Assembly considers Safe Routes funding

Posted: 2007-04-06

The California Assembly is currently considering Assembly Bill 57, which would create a permanent source of money to fund Safe Routes to School programs around the state, including Marin's national model program.

Marin's program receives grants from the state in addition to revenue from Measure A. The program has funded sidewalk projects and intersection improvements in Marin, as well as a bicycle and pedestrian bridge in Fairfax.

Assembly Bill 57 was introduced by Nell Soto, D-Pomona, and has been endorsed by the Transportation Authority of Marin.
