Marin County Fair / 2008-07-02    

The 2008 Marin County Fair runs from July 2 through July 6 in San Rafael.  This year's theme is "The Greenest County Fair on Earth".  Walking and biking, being green activities, will be prominently featured.  Stop by our informational table outside, in partnership with the Marin County Department of Parks and Open Space, visit the Green Living Pavilion in the Exhibit Hall, or check out one of the free workhshops in the pavilion, including:

Bike Repair and Maintenance - This workshop will cover basic bicycle repair and maintenance, including fixing a flat tire, adjusting your brakes, and adjusting your derailleur. Flat tire patch kits will be provided for all participants and bike mechanics will be available after the sessions for questions. Saturday, July 5, 4:30 p.m.

Bike Commuting 101 - This workshop will give you all the information you need to give two-wheeled commuting a try.  Bike maps will be provided for all participants and trainers will be available after the session for questions.  Sunday, July 6, 4:30 p.m.

Free "Basic Street Skills" Bicycle Safety Classes for Adults / 2008-07-10    

Cyclists are the most vulnerable users of public roads; this free class will teach you how to ride and drive defensively and avoid road rage behaviors.  All classes are held at Marin General Hospital Conference Center, 250 Bon Air Road, Greenbrae.  Course offerings in 2008 are:

Thursday, July 10, 2008: 6:30-8:30 PM
Thursday, September 25, 2008: 6:30-8:30 PM
Thursday, November 20, 2008: 6:30-8:30 PM
